Special Feature: F-14 Tomcat - 2026, Next Starts Here
The F-14 Tomcat has left an indelible mark on the hearts of Japanese aviation enthusiasts. The unforgettable silhouette of its variable-sweep wings appearing over Atsugi—every angle vivid, every memory still sharply etched. “There was a time when we all wanted to build that Tomcat with our own hands.” Drawn by that passion, countless modelers once made their way to hobby shop shelves. Decades have passed since then. Technology has evolved, and model kits have reached an entirely new level—more precise, more refined, and more enjoyable to build. The Tomcat that once existed only as an object of admiration can now land on your desktop in its ultimate form. Touching the model brings the atmosphere of that era rushing back to life. In this special feature, we revisit the enduring appeal of the F-14, highlighted by Tamiya’s latest 1/72 release and a wide-ranging look at the Tomcat in scale.
